Amsterdam Protest Leads to Multiple Arrests
Roughly 200 individuals gathered at Museumplein Square, situated opposite the Concertgebouw concert venue, where they shouted chants aimed at Abramson. Authorities apprehended 22 participants, some on suspicion of carrying fireworks, as reported by a news agency.
Reports indicated that confrontations erupted between officers and demonstrators after police enclosed the crowd with barriers to keep them confined to the square.
Under a provisional court ruling, 30 activists were permitted to stage a quiet demonstration inside the Concertgebouw, while all other participants were obliged to remain at Museumplein in accordance with an arrangement made with protest leaders.
Earlier on Sunday, another short-lived protest involved demonstrators obstructing two entrances to the Concertgebouw, prompting police to carry out additional arrests at that location.
Abramson had been scheduled to appear at the Concertgebouw’s yearly Hannukah concert, but the hall requested that event organizers find a replacement, a proposal that was turned down.
The Concertgebouw stated that Abramson’s involvement was "at odds with the Concertgebouw's mission to connect people with music."
